Finding it hard to choose a dental insurance company? You are not alone there. It is always challenging to choose an insurance provider given that there are lots of best dental insurance companies around. But, it is not just always a question of what is the most popular insurance company. Sometimes, for people with limited budget, knowing which has the cheapest insurance policy to offer is more important for them. So, the question now is, can you get the best of both – great insurance company with very affordable policy? Well, maybe. But here are the questions you need to ask insurance companies before you could decide which one is the best.
1. Do you have the freedom to choose your own dentist? Some plans or policy will restrict you within a network of dentists and dental offices. This happens if you choose a cheaper policy. However, there are companies who will allow you to choose your dentist at a little additional cost.
2. Will you and your dentist get to choose the best treatment for you? For a cheaper plan, you can expect that there are limitations to the treatment available for you. Cheaper insurance plan translates to cheaper treatments. But, there sure are other choices for treatment available for your plan.
3. What does your plan cover? A good dental insurance plan covers 2 overall cleaning in 1 year without fee and x-rays and fluoride treatments at no additional cost; however, there are not too many plans that provide this for free. Usually, the cost is split at 50/50 with you, as the patient, and the insurance company. This may not be the cheapest plan for you; but, you can always choose to get one with lesser coverage than above.
4. Will there be any limitation to on your schedule to see your dentist? Well, this happens to some dental insurance participants. So, make sure this is clarified when choosing your plan.
